This is the view that greeted me this morning when I awoke. So beautiful and peaceful... serene and tranquil. The storm came and blew her fury and dumped 35 inches of snow on my town which is so much more than my town can handle, even though we are used to winter blizzards. For a few hours our world stood still as the snow and the winds were so ferocious that plows and fire trucks and ambulances had to come to a halt. Our highways and roads were all closed. Our state in fact had completely shut down and put a ban on driving altogether. It's rather comforting and soothing to be trapped inside one's home for 24 hours as we hunker down beneath blankets with books and hot cocoa or glasses of wine in front of roaring fires. But alas we must move onward and forward and get on with our lives. Then what happens when this is not possible? It is now the third day of being "trapped" indoors. Our streets are not all plowed yet. The plows struggle, this is practically too much for them all to handle.

This morning I rejoiced at the sight of the bright orange trucks that were moving and heaving on my cul-de-sac... then my tears of joy turned to tears of sorrow when I saw that the snow had all been deposited in front of my driveway... a pile nearing 6 feet high has been placed at the end of my yet unplowed driveway... The orange trucks have long gone. My neighbors can get in and out. I watch them with incredible envy...

Fingers crossed that I can soon get back out into the world!

XOXO,

Jessica
