She's a grand old flag: Decorating with flags

I've become such a fan of our flag over the past few years. I love all that she stands for. I love all that she represents. I love her colors and her patterns. Her message is one of power and hope, equality, freedom, and of course, the American dream. She's such a natural choice, whether as an accessory, or focal point, for home decor.

I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing in respect to decorating the boys' room. I'm inspired by the flag images I've found. But I'm not sure, for them, I can limit it to just that. So now I'm thinking of incorporating our love of the sea... We're in a seaside community on the Long Island Sound and our summers are spent along the shore in Newport and in Maine. I'd like to incorporate the two. I'll keep you posted with what we come up with. I'm hoping to be inspired and locate some kind finds at the markets in *Brimfield, Massachusetts next week! I'd like to pick up some old lanterns, buoys... maybe do something with a lobster trap...

Great idea for my huge 45 star flag.

Our flag... artwork at it's best.
She packs a punch.
She makes a statement.
She inspires.

*Brimfield is the country's largest antique show held in Brimfield, Massachusetts. I'm attending a huge affair put together by The Daily Basics and Fashion+Decor and sponsored by Benjamin Moore, Company C and Aubuchon Hardware. If you're interested in home decor, fashion, antiques and flea markets you should put this event on your calendar!

So, what do you think of our flag?
Ain't she grand?!!

I love flags - the pillows are great! I also love when people just hang them on their homes by their doors - God Bless the USA :)

PS Brimfield! When are you going? Carpool?

What an inspiring post. Great images. I love flags for boy's rooms. I think you could do a lot with that.

I think I pinned the couch with the flag pillows. I was going to get one for my older son who has navy and cream with stripes in his room.

Brimfield sounds very cool. Wish I was closer!
